My final major project is a multimedia video that revolves around the concept of diaspora. It focuses on the varied studies and arguments of different theorists such as Cohen (2008), Hall (1993) and Safran (1991). This project attempts to offer an insight and understanding of the different factors within diasporic conditions.
The motivation of my research topic is the longstanding debate in the development of the term diaspora. I argue that due to globalization and the evolution of most cultures, the term diaspora is ever changing. Therefore its concept can convey multiple meanings. To have a better understanding whether the development of the contemporary notions of diaspora occurs I have selectively focused on the key elements, which are: culture, ethnicity, mobility, language and migration. I have chosen to interview 3 International students in order to explore new findings on diasporic experiences and conditions.
