The dissertation analyses ‘The Sopranos’ and ‘Dexter’ psychoanalytically. The ideas which are used to explain both television series are mostly written and created by S. Freud. The main themes which are studied are trauma and its effects, importance of the father figure in men’s lives, therapy session, sexuality and crime. Freud’s ideas help to grasp the events which are not explained during the series. Despite ‘The Sopranos’ and ‘Dexter’ being different, psychoanalysis and the same psychoanalytical patterns allow to parallel both series. My dissertation helps to understand and clarify the events which are happening during the series from its roots.
