TO BE BRITISH… as seen on TV
A short animation exploring representations of British identity through selected television programmes. It looks at some of the key notions widely associated with ‘Britishness’, such as British humour, class, the Royal Family and British culture. To be more specific, it discusses how certain social classes are portrayed on The Jeremy Kyle Show and Made in Chelsea, or what can be learnt about British humour from comedy shows and what is typical for British comedy characters. It further presents some findings about the Royal Family and cultural habits as observed on the soap opera EastEnders.
